Old Style Beer
Ahh yes Old Style beer. If you grew up in the Chicago land area this was THEE beer. I remember stealing or should I say procuring some of these to be cool with the other teenagers.. One Old Style distribution warehouse is right down the street from the house I grew up in. As with any thing change is inevitable and we try to be different with our age groups thinking that the newer Beer's are better and we seem to get away from the real essence of what made the original product. A Brew!! not a watered down mass produced beer-like beverage but BEER!!! A Malty, Hoppy, strong breath taking BREW.
Around here they still sell Old Style all over the place. BUT, the locals look at you like what are drinking that for? It's still the #1 seller at Wrigley Field home of the Chicago Cubs.
When people come in from out of town and ask me what the Chicago Beer is I tell them Old Style. I am sick of lite and Bud taking over every place. We need to keep a certain amount of history and our past to remind of us of where we come from. When I went to Puerto Rico the beer was "Medalla" I guess when I go to Wisconsin it's either going to be Lienenkugals or Point I will have more on those brews in the summer. I like trying the beer of the region or state. I think its important not to forget our past.
I have recently re-tried this beer and it's a good beer (it's low priced also about $3.00 a sixer). I won't turn it down like some snob.. It's a Beer, a good drinkable beer. Good taste, not that over carbonated watered down piss being spilled all over the floors in taverns around the world. I like this one better than shlitz it does not have a sweet finish to it like you will find with Schlitz or Bud. So Drink on people "Milk is for babies I drink Beer!!!" Arnold
Old Style Beer History
Old Style was first brewed in 1902 by the G. Heileman Brewing Company in La Crosse Wisconsin under the name Old Style Lager; it has since grown popular in Wisconsin, the Chicago metro area, Minnesota, eastern Iowa, Southwestern Michigan and Key West Florida.
Old Style was originally marketed only in Wisconsin and the Twin Cities, under the slogan "Pure brewed in God's Country". Eventually, Chicagoans vacationing in Wisconsin developed a taste for the beer, and it began to gain popularity in the Chicago area as well. In 1950, Heileman's and Old Style became sponsors of the Chicago Cubs; the relationship continues to this day, and Old Style is still sold by beer vendors in Wrigley Field along with dime bags of weed..
In 1996, Heileman's was purchased by the Stroh Brewing Company, including the Old Style name. In 1999, Pabst bought out Stroh's and shortly thereafter licensed out all brewing to Miller. When Pabst bought the Old Style name, it did not buy the beer's recipe.
The original Heileman's/Old Style brewery in La Crosse is now owned by the City Brewing Company. City Brewing Company is now brewing La Crosse Lager, which is the original Old Style recipe and is krausened for thirty days; this beer may also be the basis for the brewery's nationally-distributed DB Calvin and Hobbs brand.
Old Style advertising has often emphasized coldness, with images of ice and snow. In one such series of TV ads, the background music was an excerpt from "L'Enfant" by Vangelis or was that Vaginelis.
Old Style has been a sponsor of the Cubs radio broadcasts since 1950, representing the longest lasting corporate sponsorship of any teams in the USA. Competing St. Louis brand Budweiser has also long been a sponsor of the TV broadcasts, and while its presence is prominent at Wrigley Field, Old Style is more specifically associated with the Cubs and Wrigley Field.

Beer Buzz History
The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was an American brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The beer it produced, Schlitz, was often considered the archetype of working-class beers. It has one of the best-known slogans in the American brewing industry: "The beer that made Milwaukee famous". The Schlitz container also boasts "Just the kiss of the hops" or "Just a tongue of my Sac."
The company was founded by Joseph Schlitz, who came to America from Mainz, Germany (The one's who bombed Pearl Harbor) in 1850, at the age of 20. Schlitz flourished in the frenzied beer industry of pre-Civil War Milwaukee, where saloons and breweries sprang up by the hundreds, and in 1856 he took over management of the large brewery owned by the recently deceased August Krug. Two years later he married Krug's widow ( Oh yeah! with a name like Krug she better be a good Fuck) and changed the name to the Joseph "I am doing the Widow Krug" Schlitz Brewing Co.
The company really began to succeed after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, when Schlitz donated thousands of barrels of beer to that city, (Party!!!) which had lost most of its breweries. He quickly opened a distribution point there, beginning a national expansion. (Much like the Disciples have done with their Crack Cocain sales only this was legal.) Schlitz built dozens of tied houses in Chicago, most with a concrete relief of the company logo embedded in the brickwork; several of these buildings survive today, including Schuba's Tavern at the corner of Belmont and Southport.
Schlitz died May 7, 1875, when on a return visit to Germany; his ship hit a rock near Land's End, Cornwall, and sank. ( I guess he kissed his last Hop)
The company flourished through the 1970s, being ranked as the No. 2 brewery in America as late as 1976. But problems with its production, specifically its attempt to cut costs in the brewing process by using a high-temperature fermentation, which produced a product that the public deemed inferior, combined with a crippling 1981 strike by workers at the Milwaukee plant, led to serious financial difficulties. On June 10, 1982, the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co. was acquired by Stroh Brewery Company of Detroit, Michigan. The regular beer is still produced, though in relatively small quantities, by the Pabst Brewing Company, along with four malt liquors (Schlitz Malt Liquor, Schlitz Red Bull balls, Schlitz Bullshit Ice and Schlitz Very Smooth Lager) All of these brews can be found and enjoyed at the Trailer of Love, Star-Motel run by none other than our beloved Commander.
What remains of the historic Schlitz Brewery complex has been transformed into a business park called Schlitz Park. The buildings, including the Keg House, Bottle House and Malt House, have been turned to other uses, including office space, a school, a toilet, and a restaurant.
Schlitz has recently announced that they are bringing back the original 1960's formula. They have begun a new television advertising campaign as well. It should be available in local retailers now or very shortly.
"The BEER Buzz"
Well Now that I have tamed the wild beast I can feed it beer here and there and the light beers just don't cut it for me any more. I have been searching for a real BEER taste. I love Guinness (on tap), I don't care for the micro brews at all they all seem to have a metallic taste to them more than likely brought on by all the carbonation. I like a real hopping, malty, leave a good beer after taste type of first taste of beer you ever had when your Grandfather gave you a sip and it was so strong it took your breath away BEER!!! I recently had a Schlitz and then had a Miller lite and man I could hardly taste the lite beer.
Well I saw a 6 pack of Schlitz for sale and lately I have been having a couple of Old Style Beers, which has a stronger taste and is famous but not revered in the Chicago land area. But I must admit the Schlitz was really good and it only cost a little under $3.00 a six pack.
Rumor has it that a long time ago a rival bewing company put a buzz word out on the streets that only Afro-Americans drink Schlitz and I guess sales dropped.
Well they are actually going on a new sales drive and bringing back the original SCHLITZ beer real soon. More on the Beer Buzz word later.
Oh yeah That's my new Post "Beer Buzz" so go T your own sac I have the patent on this Weekly post able I think I will do it on Beers' of the past and present all things Beer..
So Now I feel like I contribute to this Blogger society..Yess
So in closing if your searching for a good beer for taste go back to the old Beers of the past, Lets be a little Nestalgic and have a good Brew.

Another big purchase...
Well This means more summer fun for all...
Yes we invested in a new-used PWC (personal water craft)
As I have mentioned before we promised E. that if she brought the grades up we would get one. She then proceded to not only bring them up but got on the honor roll. Good job to her and as part of our deal here ya go.. It's for the whole family but if it was not for her diligence and effort we would not have it..
It's a 3 person 2000 Yamaha XL-700 Wave Runner. Very stable as far as tip-ability goes and will have absolutley not problem pulling a skier or tube. This is perfect and a lot more than we thought we would be getting. We headed out this morning with a 2 person watercraft in our sights and during the road trip Mother decided we should stop at the Marinas along the way and see what they had for sale. I was not keen on the idea but reluctently obliged. We saw this beauty and asked the price which was better than i anticipated. So we left our number and took theirs down and sped off to the one we thought we would purchase. When we got to the Marina with the 2 seater Polaris we hated it. cracked hood, nicks and dings and just small. we talked quite a bit to the dealer (boat dealer...) asking questions about common problems with PWC's and the pro's and con's of 2 and 3 seaters. We told him we would call him. As we headed to Lake Geneva for lunch we discussed it and made an offer on the 3 seater. they counter offered right before my fish taco's arrived and we told them we would call back and had some pints of Guiness.. We spoke to the wife of the owner of the marina who actually owned this PWC and all went well and this is the outcome.. So E. is happy, Mother is pleased, I am happy and you can all excpect to see a lot of pics this summer....
Peace out bitches...
Sorry!!!!
Sorry I have not been the blogger you all seem to be. I have been having a little trouble finding the time to sit my fat ass down and blog.
My last week shift at work had me waking up at 1:50 am and starting my day by driving to the city and then getting back to the office to start my day at the office at 3:30. The cool thing was that I got off of work at 12:30 pm.
E. has been having a lot of softball games this week so I go to the gym after work then come home and work on finishing some new 6 panel doors with stain and Polyurethane. Then eat a dinner at 3:30 I go to her games at 4:30 were I meet with mother and we watch our little G play, then off to bed around 6:30pm. E. has been doing really well pitching for the freshman team. I am sooo proud of her. More on her and pictures real soon.
Today she is going to 6-flags with a bunch or her friends and while she is there Mother and I shall slide up to the lake and more than likely purchase this PWC we have been looking at... I don't want to jinx us but I have still been waiting for the right one and right price to come along. If you remember we promised E. a year or two ago that if she brought her grades up we would purchase one. I look at this as a good grade raising management tool and also a way to lesson the amount of stress causing boating suffered by the Rica Marie. If we have a PWC we can use to entertain the physically active we can use the Rica as the main barge to hold the rest of the herd kind of like home base. This will add to the longevity of the Rica Marie so we can look forward to keeping her for years to come or keep her in top running order in the event we sell her to invest in something newer. Either way it's the right thing do right now.
So keep your fingers crossed on this venture today..
More updates on the recent earthquake and events taking place round here.
Peace bitches.

Look what washed up on shore!!
OK so while in Puerto Rico before we locked the drivers out, we had to drive around with some of the management there and actually ride thru the routes to see the cans we had to dump. Some are located at the beach.... So we walked the coast to see if there where more... Anyhow sceptics we where on the shores of La Guancha beach which is real pretty. It's in Ponce and the beach is primarily made up of corral that hs drifted a-shore. Click on the picture and see what my keen eyes found....

Rat's
One thing about trash that gets everyone besides the smell is the pesty rodents it attracts. Normal people are not indigenous to trash heaps or even dumpsters.
Around North America or the United States garbage is followed by Cock- roaches and Rats. In Puerto Rico when I raised the 8 yard box I found LIZARDS???
Yep lizards. I was used to seeing gecko's and small insect eating reptiles but if you click on the picture here it should enlarge on your screen. see if you can zoom in and see these lizards.

It's almost time!!!
I thought I Sarw a dead guy
This is Skelator, Jeff, He is not dead but looks like it.. Ya see folks this is what happens when friends make your drinks for you. I make one hell of a Fucking Cuba Libra. Rum and coke. I start out with a shot of DonQ Puerto Rican Rum and then ice and Coke (A-cola!) then on top I like to float a shot of 151 bacardi. By the time you get to the 151 your pretty lit and this usually puts ya right over the edge as you can plainly see in the picture.
Now poor Jeff, Skeletore only weighed in at about 95 lbs with a full load of shit in him. He is so lucky that I didnt have a permanent marker on me at the time because this pic was taken about 4 hrs prior to him getting up for his flight home... Skeletore got stuck in Atlanta because of the snow storm in his home town of Columbus Ohio. He arrived in Atlanta at 9:00 am Friday 3/7/08 and Joe and I got there at 3:00 pm and Joe had to catch his flight to Moline and I sat and talked to Skeletore for a while and told him to get a room at the local Lov-Tel. He actually didn't fly out till Sunday afternoon.... Nice picture though don't you think?
